Results of RUE “Minsk National Airport” for 2009
and Development Prospects for 2010



Starting from 2003 there has
been a positive tendency of handled flights, passengers
and cargo quantity increasing in RUE “Minsk National
Airport”. In 2008 the rates of growth were in:
the amount of flights – 21,8%, handled passengers
– 30,3%, cargo – 5,7%. In 2009, during the global
economic crisis which influenced the sphere of civil
aviation greatly and led to the decrease in the
passenger flow, the enterprise managed to preserve
the volume of the performed services. What is more
the airport managed to ensure slight growth in number
of handled passengers by 1.8% (1 028 900 passengers
served); and in the number of flights the growth
was by 0.9% About 37% of the overall handled
flights volume are operated by foreign companies.
In 2009 “SCAT” airlines were attracted to carry
out flights to/from the airport on the regular basis.
In total 13 foreign airlines operated regular flights
in 2009.
Financial Performance
The income of the enterprise
in 2009 grew by 16,1 % in comparison with the previous
year; profitability from services’ realization amounted
more than 17%.
Investments into the basic
capital
In 2009 2.1 million dollars was
used for the RUE ‘Minsk National Airport’ basic
assets renewal. The complex improvement of the
territory near the airport terminal with the construction
of auto parking for 593 parking lots was completed;
ground units, transport for passengers’ transportation
as well as for supply of aircraft with water, for
food transportation were bought. What is more the
airport purchased such equipment as self-propelled
boarding steps, vehicles for handling VIP and CIP
passengers, vehicles and equipment for aerodrome
maintenance and baggage trolleys etc.
Major repairs of the runway
and aerodrome artificial coverings
In 2009 the airport carried out
the major repair of the artificial runway and artificial
pavement of parking places, taxiways, apron and
catch-drainage system at the total sum of $14,1
million.
